I recently purchased a new animal deck (Feb 2023), Whispers of the Ocean, to add more sea/ocean animals to my “stable,” so I decided to pick a card and use that as my animal for this in-look.

Of course the normal way to start would be to go to the first card, the number 1 card, but nooooo… I wanted to see what spirit would have me pick. So I duly shuffled the cards and cut the deck to reveal…. Insert drum roll here… Sea Turtle, the card numbered ONE. Who says the Divine doesn’t have a sense of humor?

I have to admit that the message on this bright blue card is a good one for right now.

“ There is no rush or push. There is time…”

While the sunshine is slowly lengthening the days, here in the northern hemisphere, we are still in the darkness for much of our waking hours. Land turtles are not speedy, but they get where they need to, always, at the precise time they should. Time to rest and plan; plan for when the time IS right to push through and get things accomplished. Sea turtles have more freedom of timely-ness because the buoyancy of the water allows them to glide through waves and currents with much more ease. They could “push though,” but why? Admit it! Whenever we are on a beach, be it the ocean, sea or lake, time tends to slow, beckoning us to take a break, take in a deep breath of tangy air to cleanse us inside and out!

So put on those flip-flops, get your favorite beach beverage, find a beach scene on YouTube and kick back and relax. Listen to those waves lap and birds speak of better weather. We still have a few weeks to recharge our inner light.
